The album "Blackwater Park" (2001), generally regarded as OPETH's magnum opus, proved to be a transitional album for the band. While its earlier albums delivered extreme and epic metal, its later albums lean heavily towards the progressive rock of the mid-seventies. "Blackwater Park" brings the best of both, with tons of powerful metal riffs, pre-metal progressive hooks and dark lyrical themes. In this new direction, OPETH sound remarkably fresh and convincing on each lengthy track they fully explore and engage. No less so today than at the time of the original release! To accompany the Legacy CD/DVD edition of the 2010 album, Music on Vinyl releases the album in an expanded audiophile edition -Double audiophile 180gram vinyl in gatefold sleeve-Bonustrack: "THE LEPER AFFINITY (Live)"-8-page booklet with new cover art and liner notes.
