Muse's fifth studio album "The Resistance" was released on September 14, 2009. The album was produced by Muse and recorded in Italy. The album has a strong electronic influence, with vocalist Matt Bellamy stating that "The Resistance" is "more electronic and rock than Black Holes and Revelations". The first single from the album, "Uprising", was released on 9 August 2009. The song reached number three on the UK Singles Chart and number nine on the US Billboard Hot 100. The second single from the album, "Resistance", was released on 5 October 2009. The song reached number twenty-one on the UK Singles Chart. The third single from the album, "Undisclosed Desires", was released on 16 November 2009. The song reached number eleven on the UK Singles Chart and number thirty-one on the US Billboard Hot 100. The fourth single from the album, "United States of Eurasia", was released on 18 May 2010. The song reached number forty-six on the UK Singles Chart. "The Resistance" was met with mixed reviews from music critics. On Metacritic, which gives mainstream critics' reviews a standardized score out of 100
