The sensational success of 2004's You Are The Quarry hasn't quite worn off yet - as Morrissey unveils a new studio album that promises big things... Instead of relying on the tried and tested, he tries something new, changing producer, venue and atmosphere. The production and mixing is handled by none other than Tony Visconti - and that means a markedly different sound and mood. The Ringleader Of The Tormentors album was also recorded entirely in Rome at the Forum Music Village. This is where legendary film composer Ennio Morricone still works today and who also arranged the strings of the second track! As for the content, you can expect something you wouldn't expect from Morrissey. The album has a very positive mood and talks about big topics like sex (!), love, death and violence quite openly. All of this, of course, in his unmistakable way: full of perverse tenderness and with ruthless mockery, triumphant yet in pain, ecstatic in despair, and all of it spectacularly staged by a great producer. M. Sohn in Stereo Play 5/06: "This old dandy knows how to squeeze big truths into a few small lines of text like no one else. Great. In the face of this monumental work, the memory of The Smiths visibly fades." C. Böhm in Audio 5 / 06: "This eighth solo album shows Manchester's Stephen Patrick Morrissey in the form of his life: voice oiled, with a certain tremolo, lyrics polished, vividly direct.
