"Miles in Tokyo" is a live album recorded on July 14, 1964 by the Miles Davis Quintet (with Sam Rivers, Ron Carter, Herbie Hancock and Tony Williams) at the Tokyo Kōsei Nenkin Kaikan, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. This is Davis's first recording in Japan and the only album to feature an early incarnation of his second great quintet with Sam Rivers on tenor saxophone after George Coleman's departure. After the appointment of Wayne Shorter, the classic line-up was added, recording albums ranging from "ESP" and "Miles Smiles" to "Miles in the Sky". The legendary album "Miles in Tokyo" is now available on vinyl for the first time in Europe. The heavy cover features a four-page booklet pasted in the same way as the original Japanese version of the 1969 LP.
