Bad is the seventh studio album by Michael Jackson, released on August 31, 1987. It was the first album Jackson released after being diagnosed with vitiligo. The album was produced by Quincy Jones and Jackson. The album Bad was recorded during the Thriller era. The album spawned five top ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including the hits "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" and "Bad". The album has been certified ten times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and has sold over thirty million copies worldwide. The 1988 album Bad was nominated for six Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, and won two awards, for Best Recording and Best Technical Recording - Non-Classical. In the book The 100 Best Albums of the 1980s, Bad was ranked eleventh. In Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Albums of the 1980s, Bad was ranked forty-second. The album was also included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
