Mayhem, the Norwegian pioneers who, alongside original bands like Venom, Celtic Frost and Bathory, were instrumental in reviving the world scene, formed in 1984 and, thanks to a long history of tragedy, intrigue and infamy, have become truly revered legends of black metal, with much of their legacy dating back to the late 1980s. In the 90s, when Euronymous guitarist & bassist Necrobutcher welcomed Hellhammer on drums and Dead on vocals to create a new era of darkness and Armageddon.
