Max Richter's production of Infra is the first in a series of collaborations between Max Richter and the Royal Ballet in London and British choreographer Wayne McGregor. After the world premiere of the ballet in 2008, a direct response to the 7/7/2005 bombings, the music gave composer Richter no rest. He revisited his musical ideas and composed them into a full-length album. Sources of inspiration for Richter include Schubert's Winterreise, Wilhelm Müller's song cycle and T. S. Eliot's The Waste Land. Composed for piano, string quartet and electronics, Infra's music is unmistakably representative of Max Richter's hypnotic sound. After an initial release in 2010 on his old label, a digital release and a Retrospective Box release in 2014, Infra now appears for the first time as a physical single release on Deutsche Grammophon.
