In 1983, Bill Forsyth made the ecological comedy "Local Hero" with Burt Lancaster and Peter Riegert. The Encyclopaedia of International Film describes Local Hero as "a poetic comedy sparkling with self-irony, with fascinating images that raise questions about the meaning and quality of life". And Prisma Online found, "In addition, the gorgeous Scottish landscape, suitably underscored by Mark Knopfler's (Dire Straits) cinematic score, makes the eco-comedy a cinematic event." Rolling Stone magazine was also very impressed with Knopfler's album, which "can make movies in your head."
