The Family Jewels is the debut studio album by Welsh singer Marina Diamandis, professionally known as Marina and the Diamonds. It was released on 6 March 2010 by 679 Recordings and Atlantic Records. The album was produced by Greg Kurstin, who also worked with Diamandis on her extended play (EP) The Crown Jewels (2008). Musically, The Family Jewels is a pop album that contains elements of electropop and synthpop. The album's lyrical content is based on Diamandis' alter ego "Electra Heart". Upon its release, The Family Jewels received mixed reviews from music critics. Some praised Diamandis' vocal performance and songwriting, while others criticized the album's production and considered the lyrical content childish. The album debuted at number two on the UK album chart and sold over 58,000 copies in its first week. It later won a gold certificate from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). The album also charted in the top twenty in Ireland and Scotland. The album spawned four singles, "I Am Not a Robot", "Oh No!", "Hollywood" and "Radioactive".
