Electra Heart is the second studio album by Welsh singer Marina Diamandis, better known by her stage name Marina and the Diamonds. It was released on 27 April 2012 by Atlantic Records. The album was produced by Greg Kurstin, Diplo, Fernando Garibay and Stargate. Musically, Electra Heart is a pop album that contains elements of electropop, synthpop and dance-pop. The album's lyrical content is based on Diamandis' observations on American culture. Upon its release, Electra Heart received mixed reviews from music critics. Some praised Diamandis' songwriting and production, while others criticized the album's general nature. The album debuted at number one in the UK album chart and later received a platinum certificate from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
