Malia recorded her new album with Swiss producer Boris Blank. The title "Convergence" means "convergence" or "getting closer". And in many ways that is what this album is about: the convergence of the different ideas of these two artists, the interaction of Blank's electronic sounds and Malia's organic voice, the approach of a soulful jazz singer to the electronic scene in which Boris Blank set the tone for many years with the duo Yello and became known as a bold pioneer of sampling. The eleven songs on this intense album are about life and survival. Filled with tragic moments and dramatic realizations, they are anthems about ghosts, prostitution, slavery, illness, spirituality and, of course, love. The laid-back rhythm'n'blues number "I Feel It Like You" sounds like it was written for a James Bond movie. Connoisseurs will, of course, recall Yello's collaboration with the great Shirley Bassey.
