"Do tohoto alba jsme vložili víc než do kteréhokoli předchozího," vysvětluje baskytarista Dave "Phoenix" Farrell.

"We've put more into this album than all the previous ones," explains bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell. This time around, the band retreated to the studio for over 14 months, selecting material from the 100+ demos LINKIN PARK recorded in preparation for the album. Mike Shinoda describes Minutes to Midnight as "a breakthrough in the evolution of the band's sound. We tried new ways of writing and used instruments and equipment we had never experimented with before. We questioned every step we took." Rick Rubin confirms, "They really reinvented themselves, it doesn't sound like rap-rock anymore. There are very strong songs on the album and it's very melodic..... Progressive album!"
