The Congregation is the fourth album by Norwegian progressive metal band Leprous . It was released on 25 May 2015 and is the band's first album to feature drummer Baard Kolstad, who replaced Tobias Ørnes Andersen in 2014. The album was recorded at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden with producer Jens Bogren. The Congregation has received universally positive reviews from music critics. On Metacritic, which assigns a standardized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 78, indicating a "generally favorable rating". Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic gave the album 4.5 stars out of 5, stating that "The Congregation is an album that is as crushingly heavy as it is emotionally vulnerable, further cementing Leprous' position as one of the most exciting and innovative bands working in contemporary progressive metal." The Guardian's Dom Lawson gave the album 4 stars out of 5, stating that "The Congregation is Leprous' most accomplished album yet: a dark, brooding and often stunning work that confirms the band's status as one of the most exciting young progressive metal bands in the world."
