Kateřina Marie Tichá's first album is a remarkable achievement in terms of authorship, interpretation and production. The talented singer and composer, who has already been seen by hundreds of thousands of spectators at concerts alongside the band Jelen, brings a distinctive poetics supported by an emotive voice and a variety of arrangements. The album Sami was created with the help of producer ODD and aspires to be the surprise of the year on the Czech pop scene. It will be released on October 2 under the SinglTon label. Kateřina Marie Tichá made her mark on the listeners' consciousness with the single Vzpomínej from 2012, whose video has had almost nine hundred thousand plays on YouTube to date. Through the hits "We Dance Together" (2013), "Into the City Came Winter" (2013 with rapper Lip), the EP "Otazníky" (2015) and a long-lasting authorial and concert collaboration with the group Jelen, she has worked her way up to her first solo album, which impresses with its original sound at first listen. Listeners can expect strong pop melodies, but also songs soaked in the influences of free-spirited gypsy music, Balkan rhythms or Parisian street art.The first musical swallow that the singer released into the world was the song Sami, which, like the music video, impressed with its strong energy and emotions. It also gave the title to the whole album. "Sami can have many meanings. In this day and age of social media, we are all trying to be together as much as possible. "The songs on this album are basically my poems, which I have been writing continuously for several years and only after that I put them into musical form. It was a period during which, apart from actively performing with the band Jelen, I also travelled around the world a lot. I visited Georgia, Palestine, Israel, but I also went to San Francisco. I like to travel alone because it gives me more time to absorb different cultures and talk to local people," the author explains. Her emotionally tinged voice on the colourful recording stands out in the most humble statements and unexpected excursions into the world of dance music.She first recorded the twelve songs in one take in a rehearsal room with piano and guitar at the beginning of the year and presented them in this form to producer Ondřej Turták, known under the pseudonym ODD. I had the feeling that I had nothing more to add to the songs," says the producer.Turták's bold and sensitive approach, however, took the individual tracks to a whole new level. "In some places he added a plucked harmonica, in others a drum'n'bass beat. I was very pleasantly surprised by how the work we did together absorbed both of us, we often sat over it for long hours and talked. I always wished to find someone who would feel the songs the same way I do, and it really happened," Tichou is delighted.The energetic song Divoká features a guest appearance by singer-songwriter David Stypka, winner of the Anděl Award in the Solo Artist of the Year 2017 category. His award-winning album Don't Be Afraid. was one of the many sources of inspiration for the talented musician. "The joint tour we did with David and the band Jelen was important for the creation of the album. He confirmed to me that even nowadays it is possible to compose normal songs with the help of poetry," says the singer, who also admires Zuzana Navarovová and Radůza.Almost 8 years have passed since the first official single Vzpomínej. The seventeen-year-old girl has grown into an excellent performer. The combination of 12 original songs with the imaginative and sensitive musical production of Ondřej Turták has created an extraordinary album. In this case, the wait really paid off.
