Killing Machine is the fifth studio album by British heavy metal band Judas Priest , released on 14 October 1978. It was the band's first album with new singer Rob Halford, who replaced the departing Glenn Tipton. The album was recorded at Tittenhurst Park, the home of former Beatle John Lennon, and produced by Tom Allom. The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching number 11 on the UK Albums Chart and number 23 on the Billboard 200. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awarded it a platinum record for shipping one million copies. The album spawned two singles, "Breaking the Law" and "Living After Midnight", which both reached the top forty of the UK Singles Chart. The album Killing Machine has been cited as an influence by several heavy metal bands, including Metallica, Anthrax and Megadeth. In 1998, the album was ranked 38th on Metal Hammer magazine's list of the 100 greatest metal albums of all time.
