They were the dark angels of post-punk and deeply captivated a generation: the Manchester band Joy Division, whose lead singer Ian Curtis became an icon of the dark side of pop.br> Joy Division recorded two albums before lead singer Ian Curtis, plagued by epilepsy and personal problems, tragically took his own life in 1980. But even during their brief creative period, they left an unmistakable imprint on the music scene. Both studio albums were groundbreaking and shaped the sound and feel of alternative music and countless followers. Ian Curtis (guitar/vocals), Bernard Sumner (keyboards), Peter Hook (bass) and Stephen Morris (drums) released their debut album "Unknown Pleasures" in 1979. By the end of the year, they had completely won over critics and fans alike with their exceptionally atmospheric sound and songs like "She's Lost Control" and "Day Of The Lords". The second album "Closer" followed the following year and brought further praise thanks to its dark sound and deep melancholy in songs like "Isolation" and "Heart And Soul".
