"Goldfinger", "Love Greetings from Moscow", "Fireball", "You Only Live Twice" - who wouldn't remember these James Bond classics as unforgettable film music. They all come from the pen of John Barry, one of the most celebrated film composers of the 20th century. But Barry didn't just write for Agent 007, he won five Academy Awards for his soundtracks for Born Free - Queen of the Wild (1965), The Lion in Winter (1968), Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots (1972), Out of Africa (1985) and - Dances with Wolves (1990). The soundtrack to Kevin Costner's successful feature film about the life of a northern officer in the Lakota Indian Territory was one of Barry's most ambitious projects. It consists of complex orchestral scores and debauched melodies reminiscent of Gustav Mahler. Bernie Grundman remastered the original analog tapes for ORG. "Dances With Wolves" is released as a double 45 on 180g vinyl in a gatefold sleeve. The work is sonically rich and has great dynamic range. No wonder it won the 1990 Academy Award for Best Music.
