As an archaeologist For nine months Alexandre Tharaud left the concert hall to find his way to the piano Olympus: to his own interpretation of Bach's Goldberg Variations, one of the most intellectually and technically demanding piano works ever written. He explored this music "like an archaeologist", says the pianist, "I was diving into the unknown, I was a searcher". The artistic result: a triumphant concert series, which is now being followed by a new recording - both as a CD album with a DVD including the concert and an interview, and as a vinyl LP.
