Assembly představuje pečlivě vybrané singly, oblíbené skladby fanoušků a archivní rarity ze sólového katalogu Joea Strummera. Tato šestnáctiskladbová kompilace obsahuje tři dosud nevydané verze klasických skladeb skupiny Clash, včetně dosud neslyšené písně "Junco Partner (Acoustic)" a elektrizujících živých vystoupení písní "Rudie Can't Fail" a "I Fought The Law", přičemž poslední dvě jmenované nahrál Joe Strummer a skupina Mescaleros v londýnské Brixton Academy 24. listopadu 2001.

Vášeň George Harrisona představovat světu novou hudbu se dostala do popředí v květnu 1974, kdy založil vlastní nové vydavatelství Dark Horse Recordds. Vydavatelství mělo na svém seznamu řadu talentovaných umělců, včetně samotného George. Assembly je prvním novým albem Joe Strummera, které se objevilo na nedávno obnoveném labelu Dark Horse Records.

Všechny skladby byly remasterovány inženýrem Paulem Hicksem, držitelem ceny Grammy (The Beatles/George Harrison/The Rolling Stones/John Lennon).

Součástí je také nově napsaná předmluva Jakoba Dylana.
