After returning home from the last of three incredible G3 tours, I got to work writing music for a new solo record. What followed was a very fruitful and cathartic two months, resulting in a package of new music that I was excited to record. When 16 songs were chosen for the project, going in different directions and touching on different musical influences, I realised I needed to put together a new studio band. The intention was to increase the energy level of the session and allow each player to express the material more individually. I pulled into Skywalker Sound with Mike Keneally on keys, Chris Chaney on bass and Vinnie Colaiuta on drums. The chemistry between these amazing players was fantastic and we went through all the songs and they all delivered amazing performances.
