When rock singer Grace Slick left her job with The Great Society at the end of 1966, she wasn't alone for long. Jefferson Airplane, also based in San Francisco, became the charismatic singer's new home, and her voice gave the band's sound a decisive new impetus. This can be admired on the band's second LP Surrealistic Pillow, which, with the cult hits Somebody To Love and White Rabbit, set a new direction for the band's sound and became the seminal album Summer Of Love.
