Looking back 50 years: 2018 sees the release of 'Planet Jarre'Rarely has the musical belief in progress sounded as worthy of pop history as it did in 1976, when composer, performer, songwriter, sound architect and producer Jean-Michel Jarre released his debut album 'Oxygene'. The countless millions of copies sold of this album laid the foundation for the Frenchman's unprecedented career. His pioneering work then sparked a veritable cult, the fastest growing trend the music industry has ever seen: electronic music. Jarre's performances broke three world records, and his music has always been guided by his inner attitude that progress is only possible if you're willing to break out of the norm. With the bestseller "Planet Jarre", the "godfather" of electronic music celebrates his 50th anniversary. The result is a four-volume, 2-CD album. The first part, "Soundscapes", consists of nine atmospheric ambient tracks that are clearly inspired by his classical training and love of film music. On the other hand, Themes contains more melodic tracks and world famous hits like "Oxygene 4", "Equinoxe 5" and "Zoolookology", which have been remastered as well as all the tracks. All tracks on the third volume are based on repetitive, hypnotic sequences that illustrate Jarr's role as a pioneer of techno and EDM, and include the previously unreleased "Coachella Opening". The work concludes with the Exploration & Early Work section, which documents Jarre's musical beginnings and is based on repetitive, hypnotic sequences, each of which can only be created using electronic instruments. "Planet Jarre" includes two brand new tracks, "Herbalizer" and "Coachella Opening", as well as rarities such as the early, unreleased demo "Music for Supermarkets", which led to the produced and immediately destroyed "Music For Supermarkets" album. For a long time, the only available LP of this album was traded as the most expensive vinyl in the world. So there is a lot on "Planet Jarre" and a lot of new stuff to discover.
