The soundtrack to the 2013 film "Man of Steel" was composed by Hans Zimmer . It was released on 11 June 2013 by WaterTower Music. He collaborated on the album with Junkie XL, who co-wrote and produced the track "Man of Steel". The soundtrack was met with a favorable critical response. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic awarded the album four stars out of five and wrote: "Zimmer's music is muscular, driving and dark, matching the tone of the film while providing a soundscape that is unique and memorable". "Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter called the soundtrack "muscular and highly effective." The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and sold 116,000 copies in its first week. It is Zimmer's fourth album to top the chart in a row.
