Originally, the quartet from Michigan went into the studio with a few old songs they never recorded. However, a number of new songs were written there, which end up making up three-quarters of the record. Greta Van Fleet has already provided some listener impressions of Anthem Of The Peaceful Army in the singles "When The Curtain Falls" and "Watching Over".
