Gov't Mule goes Reggae: "Dub Side Of The Mule" Gov't Mule celebrated their 20th anniversary last year. They never play any of their shows twice. Each one is and remains unique. They know they can delight their fans with archival treasures, so since December 2014 they have been gradually releasing legendary concert recordings in birthday editions. Now Gov't Mule are releasing "Dub Side Of The Mule", a recording of a New Year's Eve concert from 2006 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. The centerpiece of the three-hour set was a reggae segment featuring Toots Hibbert, founder of the legendary Toots & The Maytals. Warren Haynes, leader of the Mule, has truly mastered all varieties of rock and roll and the list of musical icons he has worked with is long. For the album "Dub Side Of The Mule" all the tracks were mixed and mastered. This concert also featured Toots Hibbert, Gregg Allman and Friends and John Popper of Blues Traveler in the final third set. The special edition features all 34 tracks from the over three-hour concert on three CDs, and the DVD is complete with Toots. The double LP and CD edition is complete with Toots and reggae versions of two Mule songs. Toots Hibbert and Gov't Mule perform ten collaborative tracks on "Dub Side Of The Mule" including Toots' classics "Pressure Drop", "54-46 Was My Number" and "Reggae Got Soul". Opening Toots' set is a reggae version of Gov't Mule's "I'm A Ram", while the set closes with Warren's favorite reggae-sounding number "Soulshine". Gov't Mule are on top form again: with "Dub Side Of The Mule" they bring another treat from the archive cupboard. "Dub Side Of The Mule" on CD: set with Toots Hibbert plus two Gov't Mule reggae tracks 73 minutes of playing time.
