The album was recorded during the band's 1976 tour in support of the album A Trick of the Tail and features performances of songs from that album as well as earlier material. The album was commercially successful, reaching number two on the UK Albums Chart and number 11 on the US Billboard 200. It was awarded a platinum record by the British Phonographic Industry and the Recording Industry Association of America.
