Rafal Blechacz, piano
Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam * Jerzy Semkow
There is no pianist who, if he wants to be in the public eye, does not have both Chopin concertos in his repertoire. They require a deep knowledge of style, a rich register, a very singing tone and a sovereign, polished playing technique. This is exactly what one of the greatest hopes of piano art for the 21st century has - Rafal Blechacz (1985), the absolute winner of the 15th International Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2005. The recording of both concertos is a perfect follow-up to the Chopin project from 2008 with the Nocturnes Op. 62 and the complete Preludes. This title is a perfect tribute to the bicentenary of Fryderyk Chopin's birth, which the world will celebrate next year.
