Prestigious Dutch Symphony Orchestra

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (Dutch: Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest), based in Amsterdam, is one of the most prestigious orchestras in the world. Founded in 1888, the orchestra gained its royal title in 1988 on the occasion of its centenary. Throughout its history, the Concertgebouworkest has been led by a series of distinguished chief conductors, including Willem Mengelberg, Bernard Haitink, and Mariss Jansons. The orchestra is known for its distinctive sound and interpretations of classical repertoire, which can be attributed to the acoustics of its home venue, the Concertgebouw, as well as the artistic vision of its conductors.
