Thick riffs, big melodies Foo Fighters are back. With "Concrete And Gold", the rock icons present their new ninth album in 2017 and the follow-up to 2015's "Saint Cecilia" EP. It's also the first album to feature keyboardist Rami Jaffee as a permanent member of the band. The band chose Greg Kurstin, whom Grohl met and appreciated a few years ago as a member of the indie band The Bird and the Bee, as producer for the new album. Over the years Kurstin has become an absolute production star, working behind the mixing desk for artists such as Adele, P!NK and Take That and now for the Foo Fighters at the famous EastWest studio in Hollywood. Despite his pop background and debut in heavy rock, Kurstin and his band have managed to give "Concrete And Gold" an all-around fat sound based on high density riffs, big melodies and thoughtful arrangements. Not for nothing has the band already described the new album as Motörhead's version of "Sgt. Pepper". Back in June, Foo Fighters already revealed what the first single "Run" will sound like, so a lot can be expected from the next ten tracks on "Concrete And Gold". Although you can easily distinguish Foo Fighters from a million other rock bands, they still managed to be one of the most innovative representatives of their genre in 2017. "Concrete And Gold" is proof of that.
