Eric Clapton: Clapton version on CD in Standard edition. This particular edition was published in Europe in publishing company Reprise Records on 6. October 2023.
Eric Clapton has been one of the best guitarists in the world for over forty years. In addition to countless music awards and platinum records, he has received a special honour: he is the only musician in the world to have been immortalised three times in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - as a founding member of the Yardbirds, as a member of Cream, the prototype of all supergroups, and for his achievements as a solo artist. This award represents Clapton's contributions to modern music - after all, he was considered an exceptional talent even when he was still sharing credit with his bandmates. 461 Ocean Boulevard" (1974), "Slowhand" (1977), "Crossroads" (1988), "Journeyman" (1989), "Unplugged" (1992), and "Pilgrim" (1998) are masterpieces of rock music that made a man with incredible command and intuitive guitar playing forever immortal. But Eric Clapton's artistic journey has always led back to the blues. In recent years in particular, Clapton has increasingly embraced this archaic adaptation of his roots, bringing it into line with his virtuosic technique. As early as 1994, he devoted himself to 16 blues classics on "From The Cradle," and in recent years he's been shining with loving tributes to his spiritual mentors. For these outings, he often sought out sensational partners such as B. B. King or J. J. Cale, with whom he stormed the album charts - including the German ones. Eric Clapton's new 14-track studio album "Clapton" will be released on Monday, September 27 in the UK and the following day in the United States. It consists of a mixture of new material and cover versions. Several songs, such as "Rocking Chair" and "When Somebody Thinks You're Wonderful", will be familiar to concertgoers as Eric and his band play them on stage. (ericclapton. com) Eric Clapton's new CD features JJ Cale, Allen Toussaint and Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews. JJ Cale co-wrote four songs: two of them he wrote himself ("River Runs Deep" and "Everything Will Be Alright") and two are duets with Eric (the aforementioned "River Runs Deep" and "No Way To Get Along"). Allen and Troy collaborate on two tracks ("My Very Good Friend The Milkman" and "When Somebody Thinks You're Wonderful"), both of which also feature Wynton Marsalis. Walt Richmond, a member of JJ Calea's band, plays keyboards on all tracks. Walt played on JJ Cale and Eric Clapton's GRAMMY Award-winning gold album The Road to Escondido, and was recently a member of Eric's touring band. (rosebudus. com)
Album spans genres Rock, Blues and Blues Rock.
