The first single from the album, "Mr. Blue Sky", reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Out of the Blue was the band's seventh studio album and was the first album to feature the London Symphony Orchestra's string section. The second single from the album, "Livin' Thing", reached number twelve on the Billboard Hot 100. The album's third and final single, "Sweet Talkin' Woman", charted at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. The album Out of the Blue was the band's first album to reach number one on the Billboard 200.
