Říkalo se jí malý vrabec, protože měřila pouhých 1,47 metru, ale jako šansoniérka byla Édith Giovanna Gassionová alias Édith Piaf (1915-1963) největší ze všech. Nejen ve Francii, kde je dodnes uctívána jako nejpopulárnější zpěvačka země. Nebyla to její pěvecká technika ani mimořádně brilantní hlas, co ji proslavilo, ale vášeň, s jakou své písně přednášela, co ji zvěčnilo. A samozřejmě písně jako "Mon Légionnaire", "La Vie en Rose", "L'Hymne à l'Amour", "Milord" a "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien", které jsou samozřejmě zařazeny na pěti CD "The Very Best Of" spolu s dalšími 95 písněmi.
