A Broken Frame is the second studio album by English electronic music group Depeche Mode , released on 27 September 1982 by Mute Records. The album was recorded in West Germany following the band's departure from their original label Some Bizzare Records and subsequent signing with Mute. A Broken Frame was not as successful as the band's debut album Speak & Spell, and its success on the charts was hampered by the fact that the album was not released in the United States. However, the album did yield the band's first UK Top 10 single, "See You", which reached number ten on the UK Singles Chart. The album was re-released on CD in 1991 and again in 2006. The album was remastered and re-released on 3 November 2009. The album A Broken Frame was generally well received by music critics. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic, in a retrospective review, called the album "a far more accomplished and adventurous achievement than Speak & Spell" and stated that it "reveals a band growing and conquering new territory without sacrificing the core elements that made it unique".
