His deep raspy voice, instantly recognisable guitar sound and not least the incredible number of songs that have become successful have made him one of the UK's most popular and successful songwriters. Five of Chris Rea's best and most popular albums from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s are now released as Deluxe Editions, each with an additional CD of bonus material: Shamrock Diaries (1985), On The Beach (1986), Dancing With Strangers (1987), The Road to Hell (1989) and Auberge (1991). Each of the double deluxe CDs contains the fully remastered original album and a second disc of live performances, B-sides and previously unreleased tracks. In addition, extensive new liner notes by journalist Peter Doggett feature exclusive new interviews with Rea, recorded especially for each album, revealing the story behind each album. The Shamrock Diaries album was originally released in April 1985 and charted at number 15 in the UK charts, making it Rea's first top twenty album. It reached number one in Australia, reached number 12 in Germany, went gold and sold more than well throughout Europe.
