The album is a concept album about a journey to the planet Venus. The album was produced by Frank Farian and features vocals by Liz Mitchell, Maizie Williams, Marcia Barrett and Bobby Farrell. The album opens with the title track "Nightflight to Venus", which is a disco song with a funky bass line. The song is about a trip to the planet Venus and includes lyrics about space travel and aliens. The song became a hit in Europe and reached number two in the Netherlands.
