Elephunk is the third studio album by American hip hop group Black Eyed Peas.It was released on June 24, 2003 by Interscope Records. After touring with the Fugees in 2002, will.i.am returned to the United States and began recording Elephunk in his home studio with other members of apl.de.ap and Taboo. The album was recorded in two months and was heavily influenced by 80s music. Elephunk is a departure from the previous Black Eyed Peas sound , which was more influenced by hip hop. The album's music features a more danceable sound and contains more electronic and funk elements than their previous recordings. Elephunk was met with mixed reviews from music critics, who criticized the band for deviating from their previous sound, but praised the album's production and dance-oriented tracks. The album spawned four singles, "Where Is the Love?", "Shut Up", "Hey Mama" and "Pump It". "Where Is the Love?" became the first single by the Black Eyed Peas to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100,
