Vulnicura Strings is a version of Björk's famous eighth studio album "Vulnicura" recorded on strings. In recording some of the arrangements, Björk used the world's only organist's viola, an instrument originally designed by Leonardo da Vinci but whose construction did not live to see its inventor. The instrument uses a traction belt to vibrate the individual strings (similar to a violin), with the strings being selected by playing the piano keys (similar to an organ). The instrument was recorded in Krakow by its builder, Sławomir Zubrzycki, who used it to complete the album.
