"Me Against the World" is 2Pac's third studio album, released on March 14, 1995. The lyrics were inspired by his imminent prison sentence, trouble with the police and poverty. Released while 2pac was in prison, the album immediately broke the charts and debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200. The song "Dear Mama" reached number one on the Hot Rap Singles chart and reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100. "Me Against the World" won the award for Best Rap Album at the 1996 Soul Train Music Awards. At the 38th Grammy Awards in 1996, "Me Against the World" was nominated for Best Rap Album and the single "Dear Mama" was nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance. To this day, this work is considered one of the best and most influential hip hop albums of all time.
