Independent American record label based out of New York, NY, founded in May, 1977.
Originally independant & self-distributing, the label was founded by Kevin Eggers as a successor to his previous record labels Utopia (2) and Poppy. It was later owned by Gramavision and distributed by Rhino/Atlantic in the 1990s. Tomato became independent again in 2002, after Gramavision was purchased by Rykodisc.
