T.E.C. Tones

Avantgarde/Rock/Jazz label from San Francisco, CA . TEC Tones was founded in 1989 from the ashes of Ralph Records by Tom Timony after the Residents turned over Ralph to him. He kept it going, distributing many former Ralph acts as well as other like-minded individuals, like Negativland. In 1999 the name was changed to Esoteric Music Group though releases were mostly limited to CD reissues of old Ralph releases. Unfortunately, EMG closed its mail-order doors in 2001, although from time to time, auctions appear on eBay for the old releases. TEC Tones was also the distributor/maintainer of the original Shonen Knife fan club, headed by Jad Fair.
