Operated from 1999 to April 2014, as Island Records America and Def Jam Recordings began operating separately while Mercury Records shuttered once again into Island Records. 'The Island Def Jam Music Group' is usually only mentioned as copyright holder on releases. Only enter it as label when the combined 'Island Def Jam' logo appears on the release. When there is only an Island Records logo, use Island Records as label. When there is only a Def Jam Recordings logo, use Def Jam Recordings as label.
