Dureco

Dureco

Dureco was a Dutch record manufacturer, distributor and retailer founded in 1952 and one of the many companies owned by E.W. Pelgrims de Bigard, The name is derived from DUtch REcord CO. E.W. Pelgrims de Bigard was at one time the largest independent record manufacturer and marketer in Europe. The group produced, licensed, manufactured, distributed and retailed records all across Europe and parts of Africa. Other companies in the group were Fonior, AREA, ACEM, Sofrason, Dureco, Sobelpress S.A. and the Belgian retail chain Le Masion Bleu in Europe and Ecodis in The Congo. Dureco introduced CD replication in 1987 making it the first CD manufacturer in Holland. Their discs are identifiable with the code DUR-NL in the mirror band. In 1998, Dureco's Dutch and French CD plants were merged with Austrian Koch Digitaldisc GmbH to form Kdg. The individual pressing plants were re-branded kdg-NL and kdg France.
