Czech and Slovak music label. Established in 1990, ceased in 2003. Initially also rarely credited as “Bonton Records”, between 1993–1996 an extended “Bonton Music” logo was in use. Label code: LC 5668 Series: Filmová Řada Hity 20x (2) Síň Slávy History: Originally existing as a cooperative 1988–1990, founded by Martin Kratochvíl and Michael Kocáb. The label “Bonton” was then owned by the companies Bonton a.s. 1990–1993, Bonton Music a.s. 1993–1998, Sony Music / Bonton s.r.o. 1998–2003. Today, the Bonton catalog 1990–1998 (including reissues 1998–2003) is owned by Supraphon a.s., while all new releases produced in 1998–2003 were transferred to Sony Music Entertainment (Czech Republic) s.r.o. In Slovakia, the “Bonton” label was maintained by Bonton Music Slovakia s.r.o. 1995–1999, and Sony Music / Bonton (Slovakia) s.r.o. 1999–2001. Today, the Slovak Bonton catalog is owned by Opus a.s. Catalog numbers: 71####-#### (1990–1993, Bonton a.s.) 71####-# (1993–1998, Bonton Music a.s., also Bonton Music Slovakia s.r.o.) 49####-# and 50####-# (1998–2003, Sony Music / Bonton s.r.o.) Sony Music Bonton releases may also have a “BON” prefix to the catalog number on back cover or on disc. Please use it only as secondary number, if present, or as catalog number assigned to any credited “Sony” entity.
