Washboard Sam

Washboard Sam

Influential American Blues Musician and Washboard Player

Washboard Sam, born Robert Brown on July 15, 1910, was a prominent American blues musician known for his mastery of the washboard. He became one of the leading figures in the Chicago blues scene during the 1930s and 1940s. His career was marked by his collaborations with other blues legends, including his half-brother Big Bill Broonzy. Washboard Sam's music was characterized by a rhythmic washboard style that complemented the guitar and harmonica commonly found in blues music of that era.
