The Motors

The Motors

British Pub Rock/New Wave Band

The Motors were a British pub rock and new wave band that formed in 1977. The original lineup consisted of Nick Garvey (vocals, bass), Andy McMaster (keyboards, vocals), Rob Hendry (guitar, replaced by Bram Tchaikovsky shortly after their debut), and Ricky Slaughter (drums). They are best known for their 1978 hit single "Airport," which achieved significant chart success, reaching the top five in the UK Singles Chart. The band released three albums during their career: "1" in 1977, "Approved By The Motors" in 1978, and "Tenement Steps" in 1980. Despite never achieving massive commercial success, The Motors were recognized for their melodic power pop and are remembered for their contribution to the late '70s and early '80s music scene. The group disbanded in 1982 after a relatively brief but impactful career.
