Richard Harris

Irish Actor and Singer

Richard Harris was an Irish actor, singer, theatrical producer, film director and writer whose career spanned several decades. Born on October 1, 1930, in Limerick, Ireland, Harris initially gained fame as an actor in the 1960s with standout roles in films such as "This Sporting Life" (1963), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, and "Camelot" (1967), where he played King Arthur. Despite being primarily known for his acting, Harris also ventured into music. His most notable musical achievement came with his recording of the song "MacArthur Park" in 1968, which was written by Jimmy Webb. The song was a major hit and has since become a classic. Harris released several albums throughout his career, showcasing his distinctive vocal style. His work in both film and music has left a lasting legacy following his death on October 25, 2002.
