The New Philharmonia Orchestra, which was founded in 1964 when the Philharmonia Orchestra's management changed, is a renowned London-based symphony orchestra. The orchestra was created by Walter Legge, a classical music record producer for EMI. Its principal conductor at the time of its founding was Otto Klemperer, a highly respected conductor known for his interpretations of Beethoven, Mahler, and Brahms. The New Philharmonia Orchestra has worked with many distinguished conductors and soloists over the years and has toured extensively, performing in concert halls around the world. They have made numerous recordings across a wide range of classical repertoire, including works by Beethoven, Mahler, Verdi, and many others. The orchestra is known for its versatility and has contributed to both traditional classical performances as well as film scores. In 1977, it reverted to its original name, the Philharmonia Orchestra, under which it continues to perform and record to this day.
