Love Unlimited Orchestra

Love Unlimited Orchestra

Disco-Soul Ensemble Led by Barry White

The Love Unlimited Orchestra was a 40-piece string-laden orchestra, formed by American soul musician Barry White, that served as a backing ensemble to White and female vocal trio Love Unlimited. From the early 1970s, the orchestra was a prominent part of the soul and disco scenes, providing lush, romantic, and cinematic arrangements that became synonymous with White's signature sound. The orchestra is best known for the instrumental hit "Love's Theme," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1974. This track is often regarded as one of the first disco songs to hit that position. The Love Unlimited Orchestra's work included not only backing for White and the trio but also several successful instrumental albums on their own. Their music has been widely sampled and continues to influence the sound of soul and R&B music.
