Jazz Saxophonist and Centenarian Performer

Benny Waters was an American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, and vocalist known for his long career that spanned much of the 20th century. Born on January 23, 1902, in Brighton, Maryland, Waters became active in the jazz scene during the 1920s and played with a variety of ensembles and musicians, including Charlie Johnson's Paradise Ten and King Oliver. His style was rooted in early jazz traditions but also adapted to the changing tastes of audiences over the decades.
