Yuri Falik

Soviet and Belarusian Classical Composer and Conductor

Yuri Falik (1936–2009) was a Soviet and Russian composer, conductor, and teacher. Born in Odessa, he graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory where he studied composition and conducting. Throughout his career, Falik composed a variety of works including symphonies, chamber music, choral pieces, and vocal music. His style was known for blending traditional Russian elements with contemporary techniques. As a conductor, he worked with several ensembles and was particularly noted for his interpretations of choral music. In addition to his composing and conducting, Falik was also an educator who taught at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. His contributions to Russian music have been recognized with numerous awards and honors throughout his career.
